I bought this bat to prepare for my upcoming Junior College season. So far I have hit at least 1,000 balls with my bat w/o it breaking or seeing a drop off in it's performance ( I hit a couple of +360 foot shots with it both yesterday and this morning) so I am confused as to why other reviewers say this bat is not durable and doesn't have good pop. The bat is showing a little bit of dimpling but all and all still looks pretty good. I have no doubt my bat will eventually break so I plan on buying 2 more of these excellent priced bats to keep on reserve for when this happens.

I just bought the bat and during my first round of BP it broke. Fortunately for the 90-day warranty, I'll get a mulligan.

The bat does have a nice balance to it and the grip is nice. Seems to have some pop but will take a few more at bats to really tell for sure.

Although some people I know dislike composite bats because they feel it has less pop that wood bats, I prefer them because they are durable and last a while.

Great bat for cage and bp on the field. Broke on second week but 90 day warranty makes up for it. Couple of 380+ hits, but would not use in game. Good cage bat, but that's about it

Comments about Mizuno Maple Black Composite Wood Bat:

Have been playing in a wooden bat league and have well over 40 hits with this bat. So far so good, maybe I got lucky with a durable bat but will def. buy another if this one looks to break. I'm a solid hitter so I don't get jammed to often, maybe thats the difference but would def. recommend this bat to anyone looking for a good performing bat.

Comments about Mizuno Maple Black Composite Wood Bat:

I got this bat mainly for practice. [$] for a wood composite bat is great. Its pretty good but I'm just not at the comfortability level to use it over an aluminum bat. Of course I haven't used it in a game yet, but I dont know where some people are getting that it breaks easily. I've gotten at least 50 good hits with this bat and its still not at its peak of performance.

                Softball Bat Sizing

To find the correct bat length for your softball-playing daughter, have her stand straight up with her arms to the side. Place a ruler to her side with the start of the ruler (the "0" mark) on the ground. Read the measurement at the end of her wrist, just where the hand meets the forearm. As a general rule, this measurement indicates the perfect bat length for her.

Another sizing method for Baseball and Softball

Another great means for determining bat size is what we'll call the wingspan method. Have your son or daughter stand up tall with their arms straight out (arms should be parallel to the ground as if they were trying to mimic an airplane). Measure from the very center of their chest out to the tip of their fingers. That measurement will give you the ideal bat length.

It's always best to try to size using a variety of methods to come up with their ideal. For youth which are still growing, we recommend that you go with the longest length obtained through the various sizing methods. We often use the break of the wrist method (described in the softball bat sizing above) along with this method and use the longer of the two.
