Baseball History

Baseball has followed the history of the nation.  And while both the game and the country have undergone massive changes over time, there are some constants that ensure baseball will always be America’s Pastime.

With today being St. Patrick’s Day and the start of a new season just around the corner, we thought it would be fun to celebrate Irish contributions to America’s Game.

Baseball gloves are primarily made of leather. But the strength and quality of the leather can very greatly from glove-to-glove. The type of leather used can have drastic effects on a glove: How it looks, how it feels, how hard it is to break-in, how much it costs, and how long it lasts.

The web of your glove not only adds to the look of your glove, but it can even define field positions or even yourself as a player.

Throughout the history of baseball, there have been many men whose names have been immortalized for their accomplishments on the field or their larger-than-life personalities.

Babe Ruth. Joe DiMaggio. Ted Williams. Tony Gwynn. Rickey Henderson. Ken Griffey Jr. These men are some of the greatest to ever play, but none of them were able to change the game the same way as first baseman, Charlie Waitt.
